Old New Year

The eve from January 13 to 14 is called Old New Year. It’s a traditional Ukrainian New Year (according to Julian Calendar).
Late in the evening boys put on the clothes of different characters and go to the girls and men called Vasyl to sing Ukrainian carols (January, 14 is a name day of Vasyl).
At dawn musicians go to wish a “Good morning” – they say good morning to people.
In the morning of the 14th of January little boys go with grains to sow them in the house in order to have a rich harvest this year.
