The results of the final round of SBS ‘National Language Competition 2016’ have become open. Liana Semcesen, an Australian girl with Ukrainian roots, has become one of the finalists.
The task for the participants (aged from 4 to 18) was to write a response (up to 300 words) to the question: ‘What does learning language mean to you?’. In her response to the question Liana wrote about her classes at the school of Ukrainian Diaspora in Australia and expressed her admiration of the ancestors’ history. Besides her having been appreciated by the judges, Liana has also attracted the attention of the Ukrainian community in Australia. It is worth noting that the participants were asked to write their compositions in languages important for them but not in English. The final results of the competition are to become known soon.
Well, while Liana’s composition is actively shared and discussed all over the web, we propose it for your reading.
